Ingredients:

  • 1 cup daliya (broken wheat)
  • ½ cup mixed vegetables (carrot, peas, beans)
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Ghee or oil for cooking (Ghee preferrable)

Method:

  • Heat ghee/oil in a pressure cooker; add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add mixed vegetables and saute for a few minutes.
  • Add daliya, turmeric powder, salt, and enough water (about 3 cups).
  • Cook under pressure for about 2 whistles; let the steam release naturally.
  • Fluff the khichdi before serving.
